Weight Of History - Poem by gershon hepner

However hard we try to shed
the weight of history, the last ten pounds
remain to weigh us down like lead
and spoil our taste like bitter coffee grounds.
However hard we try to mod-
ernize our diets we remain the host-
ages of history and God,
for neither disappear or can be lost.

Good theme, Gershon...new thought for me...but I agree with Gina about the syllable splitting.

    Agreed!
One nit: I think you can do better than syllable-splitting to achieve rhyme.
    Love,
    Gina.
