What Are Their Real Issues? Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

What Are Their Real Issues?

What are their real issues?
And why are they here?

'They say their parents screwed them up.'

And...?

'That's how they got here.'

Mine did the same thing.
So did yours.
And everybody else,
Walking on the Earth.
What other way could they have gotten here?

'I don't know.
I think one of them drove.
Maybe they took a cab?
You want me to ask? '

Have you ever been told,
You were 'special'?

'YEAH!
As a matter of fact,
My dad use to tell me that,
All the time.'
