What's In A Name? Poem by Elisabeth Wingle

What's In A Name?

Rating: 4.8

What's in a name?
What makes it good?
What makes it lame?
It's who you are
From whence you came.

What's in a name?

Some movie stars
Change it for fame
A convict may
To mask the pain
And hide his shame

What's in a name?

The newlywed
Will never be
The girl who said
'I do'. Bravely
She's been renamed

What's in a name?

I hope you see
She gave her name
For a gold band
It's not the same
When you're a man

What's in a name?

You ask a man
To give his life
If it would save
His loving wife
'I will 'he claims

What's in a name?

Ask that same man
To take her name
He'll look at you
Like you're insane

What's in a name?
What's in a name?
