What Would Your Mother Say



He stopped me not far from home
Told me straight he wanted my phone
'leave of mate' I nervously said,
then he grinned and punched me straight in the head.

Dazed, spinning, and feeling sore
I found myself lying on the dirty floor.
'last chance mate then it gets ugly'
so I gave him my phone rather hurriedly.

Every dropp of dignity dripped into the drain
As I tried to look strong and hide my pain.
Yet this just seemed to anger him some more
so he spat at me and kicked the floor.

Now I was past the point of fear and pain
and maybe down to damage to the brain
I whimpered 'What would your mother say'
'if she knew what you were doing today'

'im ere cause of er bloody abbit
and if she dont get her fix she'll op like a rabbit
So she'll say harry up son,
me arms are shaking and I got the runs.

Then off he ran down my once safe street
And there I stood, feeling totally beat.
cursing and scolding my stupid self
which in turn had increased his wealth.

Soon an old lady stopped to see If I was ok,
'No' snapped I, then turned and walked away
only to hear her shouting the phrase of the day
Now just what would your...........................

what a poem! it has a fantastic flow, it is meaningful and yet provides an interesting reading! well done HBH
