What You Remind Me Of... - Poem by E.M. Miranda

You remind me of the broken concrete
surrounding the bosom of my hell.
I broke it once,
I broke away,
and I can break away from you the same.

I’m a blind woman,
to not see what I have.
This person right in front of you is all I need.

I am a woman,
even though you might not see my tears
they are still there…
even though you might not see my strength
it is still there…

I always knew I would be a detriment,
a plain old “I’m sorry, ”
the day I gave my heart to you…so I don’t…
and that is how it is
and that is how it is going be.
