Oh how I love those country fields
That are rich with wheat and such
Waving freely in the air
With a wonderful farming touch
Green corn fields ripe and lovely
Tall stocks with leaves so wide
Driving down those country roads
Sometimes I have to stop ‘long side
Roll down the windows and take a sniff
Smell that refreshing country air
Get out of the city, folks when you can
Wipes out all worries and cares
Perhaps you’ll see other vegetation
A bit of Prickly Pear cactus as well
Scraps of cotton from the patch
Depending on where you dwell
It’s a lifestyle I’m well aware of
That I always love to see
Farms, cows and horses blend in
With wheat, corn and country!
How lovely! ! ! I knew you weren't here in England when I read about the prickly pear cactus. ha ha. I'm used to the country too for I live in the Yorkshire Dales, one of the world's prettiest places. I guess you are across the ocean from me. Both of us with the same hobby. Google: Josie's Poetry if you wish to see what I'm doing. Best wishes - Josie
