When I Was Close To Death Poem by Emmanuel Joseph Olumakiss

When I Was Close To Death

Rating: 5.0

They knew nothing as many that beat their chest
In self appraisal evaluating the feet they've attained
Depreciating God;
The one on whose influence the job was well done

I was stiff in my entire being to the point of no return
Scavenging for a way out
Losing of breath
Some said it was trance not being able to uphold life

Many salvaging for my own return
Going on their kneels face to face with God
Tabling all that's within me
And the reason I should be called to life

My case they never neglect
The ones that barely know my where about
Many that hail not from my own zone
They were troubled in my absence

The period i was not reachable
They made an outcry nation wide
The ones I owe debt only came in check of me
To ensure I don't die with their own belongings

Many have made me foes to the point of death
Having ignored the call to unite
What is the gain in doing what is not right?
Only few recently turn from their wrong
And acknowledged what they've done bad
Without words or long debate
