When It Goes Up For Sale Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

When It Goes Up For Sale

What are you out here looking for?

'I'm searching for peace.'

Why can't you find it,
Within your home.
And behind closed doors?

'I have to find it first to bring it there.'

Good luck.
I hope you don't miss it,
When it goes up for sale.

'I didn't know it could be sold.
Did you get yours when it was on sale? '

You're close.
I began to 'feel' my peace,
When I became detached to let a few things go.

'You've got me confused.
Did you purchase it first to let it go?
Or was it repossessed?
OR...
Had it been foreclosed? '

Let's just say...
What I had to be assessed,
No longer affects my keeping of peace.
