When It Is Dawn Poem by Anil Kumar Panda

When It Is Dawn

Rating: 5.0

When the faint light from the east
Grazes the green grass of the lands
Tumbling down from the hilltop
To settle down across moist sands

When from inside the cages parrots
Say hymns at the flowers newly born
Brides leave sides of the their grooms
Standing at the door greet the dawn

When the one footed rooster shouts
From atop the mound of cow dung
When a cool wind lifts the leaves
From the slumbers and sings a song

Brushing past the hedges it runs
To the fields, towards the stream
To get lost in the thick grove by its
Side like a night's soothing dream

Birds fly away towards the sky
One by one from inside the nests
Draped in a white shroud of light
Night goes hiding to take some rests.

When dawn arrives tender light falls on grass and shines with beauty of hope. This poem catches a rich imagery basing on perception of dawn and this is excellently expressed. Night hides and birds fly eagerly with new vision and freedom....10

Exquisitely beautiful landscape created with words with some fascinating scenes at dawn e.g. 'When a cool wind.... sings a song.... Night goes hiding to take some rests'. Thanks.
