When You Die Poem by Randy McClave

When You Die

When you die
You will then meet God in the heavens above the sky,
God isn't going to ask you about someone else
God is only going to look upon yourself.
He won't ask you about the two men down the street who got married
Or about the gay rights flag that they carried,
He won't ask you about the neighbor girl who had an abortion
Or about that banker down the street caught in an extortion.
He won't ask you about the atheist that lives on the corner
Or about that other neighbor who is a Muslim foreigner,
He won't ask you about the woman who feels more comfortable as a man
Or about that male who likes to be called Anne.
He won't ask you how great was your country
But, he will ask you why you didn't help the needy and the hungry,
He will ask you why you didn't witness unto those neighbors too
He will then ask you why didn't you love those people as He called you to do.
