Why didn't you tell me when you loved me so much?
Then why did you love me at all?
I looked at you, you looked back at me with an intent look,
And then you dashed away like someone will catch your heart throbbing!
Our life would be so different, our days and nights would be so different,
Only if you told me Once!
Once!
was it that hard?
Just to admit that there was one person in the world,
You wanted to be with,
look in the eyes
hold hands,
And wished that that moment never ended!
I was dismayed with the whole world,
I was appalled at the whole world,
Believing nobody cared for me, nobody valued me,
When, you kept your secret, even from me,
Giving up all your happiness, all your dreams, for an undeserving girl who had no clue,
What love is!
You could have tried!
Would it really hurt your pride
watching me with other admirers, but
the fact is, this undeserving unwise girl longed for
your attention - in a moonlit night of Jhulan, in a patio,
on a swing, to swing like Radha and Krishna!
It's not your fault you didn't realize -
It's not your fault that you met her,
And you thought she looked like an angel,
Still you just smiled, and she smiled,
And you let the moment go.
My heart aches with a pain inflicted by a cruel fate,
breaks in million pieces to recapture that moment!
But, the strangest thing about love is,
It never dies,
it's like scorched brown grass in terribly cruel summer,
It just lets everything else cover it,
like layers and layers of dry leaves in Fall,
(nobody cares to rake) ,
like creepers on a vine,
And then, one Summer day,
It blossoms like an enchanting Sunflower,
On its own, magnificent in its glory,
Ignoring every bit of obstruction.
Here we are - our day has come,
No impediment, no adversity, can block our way,
It's late, we have reached the dusk of our life,
We don't have dazzling sunshine, we walk in the mellow light of an unusually crimson twilight,
We walk hand-in-hand,
gentle step of an
ever-lasting existence!
A refined poetic imagination, Banamala Sen. You may like to read my poem, Love And Iust. Thank you.
