Why Do You Say I Bring To You Disgust? Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Why Do You Say I Bring To You Disgust?

Accuse me of anything you want.
But I am not the one,
Poisoning your food.
Polluting the air you breathe.
Destroying your economy.
Removing you from your homes...
Obtained through bad loans,
Condoned by another's greed.
I am not the one...
Taking your employment,
And giving those jobs away...
To those overseas.
I am not the one deceiving your trust.
I am the one who has been honest to you.
Why do you say I bring to you disgust?
Truth has never brought to me an enemy...
That offended my beliefs to protect defensively.
