Wild 21st Century Poem by Paula Glynn

Wild 21st Century

This is a wild 21st century, where heroes win,
Supermodels walk the catwalks,
Film stars attend premieres; rock stars rock the stage,
And models in photographs never age,
For this is the wild 21st century,
Where people attend nightclubs,
The women dressed in skirts, heavy make up and high heels,
And men dress up accordingly and the show, steal,
For this is the cool London life, where women have the London look,
And the sun shines, highlighting tanned faces and manicured nails,
And people on the docks wave the sails, and just go with the tide,
For money in this place isn't something that needs to be hidden,
And the airplanes are filled with people, going to exotic places,
Places like Egypt, greece, France, Spain, Italy and many other places,
For this is the world money rules and coolness wins the day,
Because money may not buy happiness,
But it can certainly buy a $1000 dress that is set to impress,
And funky dance music plays from a boom box,
Beats that are groovy, gorgeous and just rock,
For many a gorgeous man and woman dance to the beat,
Asking the bar man to turn up the volume,
For rock stars are the main players and are like gods,
Just lighting up that stage and the regular lives,
Of shopkeepers, and dance enthusiasts who live for the night,
Where the world comes alive and life is celebrated with wine,
And bodies heave with the sound of music,
For these people have got it down right,
A place where everything happens for a reason,
No matter what others say about their way of life.
