Will Wisdom Prevail Upon? Poem by Somanathan Iyer

Will Wisdom Prevail Upon?

Witness thou Oh! Heaven!
mankind faces extinction
nature's splendor whatever left
nemesis stares at no way out
lakes and ponds, rivers and streams
hills and mountains, waterfalls
never to exist in times of future
by extreme greed of human knowledge
wonder species of land and water
awesome creation of mother nature
never to be heard in times to come
by extreme greed of human knowledge
sucked by poverty suffer more in the world
succor to all provided not, possible though
countries compete in arms and weapons
though their populace struggle for survival
mind boggling amounts spent for owning
nuclear warheads and ballistic missiles
provoked somewhere escalated worldwide
breaks out if a war be it a world war
colossal destruction caused by nuclear arms
allow never the world with signs of any life
left will be no one to read about third world war
left will be no one to talk the might of super powers
for exists not a single life in the impact of nuclear war!
