Wilted Roses Poem by Jeri Martindale

Wilted Roses

Rating: 4.5

And so I walked away from it all, only to find a wilted rose.
Once it was so beautiful and full of life, but now lays lifeless feeling nothing.
When it use to feel the warm touch of the sun and fall asleep with the first touch of dew.
Could this be you?

Taking my time packing my things, to find a new rose.
I find one, it feels the warm sun again and grows to be a warm feeling in my soul.
Then one gray evening it dropped onto the ground breaking into a thousand pieces.
This was you!

Now it seems as if I can't find another rose, its like I have lost them all.
Falling from where I stood, luckily finding a meadow full of roses.
They all fall too, for I felt nothing with them; I only need one.
It is you!

The next rose that I found would not share its joy with the wind.
It seemed as if I lacked the touch to make it grow.
Now it too as died, never to be mine again, the only thing is I loved this one too much.
Could this have been your soul?
