Winter Weeks Poem by Phil Soar

Winter Weeks

After weeks of clouds and rain
The sun has now come out again
But chilly winds have arrived too
When winter comes, that's nothing new

I guess there'll be a brief respite
Sunny days, and frosts at night
The odd snowfall, and morning fog
Walks that mystify the dog

Still months to go before the spring
The joyous Daffodils that bring
A flash of colour to roadside verges
A kick start for the wildlife urges

When breeding lets the birds forget
The cold, the damp, and all the wet
And lifts the spirits of us all
As mother nature starts to call
