Wisdom Precautions Can Save Our Souls Poem by Terence George Craddock

Wisdom Precautions Can Save Our Souls

Rating: 5.0

that which we deserve
and that which we receive
are two extremely different things

life experiences common sense
should have drilled driven this
deep into our receptive psyche

personality responds to criticism praise
we wither or flower in ice or sunlight
we are burned by both ice and sunlight

we are warmed sheltered caressed in love
we are damned persecuted tortured by hate
empowered by belief faith can change fate

yes it is true I agree with Jessica Yalenti

'Women don't get raped
because they were
drinking or took drugs.'
'Women do not get raped
because they weren't
careful enough.'
'Women get raped
because someone
raped them.'

this is true men also get raped
robbed cheated beaten abused
victims wear consequence faces

we are all accountable for words
all our actions which may take
longer to heal than broken bones

we must particularly be careful
in cities at night strange places
wrong place wrong time translates

to possible horrific consequences

I never got drunk in public in Jakarta
never trusted anyone to get me home
I ensured I was sober enough and had...

money or the means to get myself safely
home 'can't be too careful is a good motto'
can prevent life devastating consequences
