Wishes Dreams Prayers Poem by Dorothy (Alves) Holmes

Wishes Dreams Prayers

A PRAYER

Lord,
let within me dwell
a pure heart,
compassion for my fellow man and
the ability to smile when I slip on
the banana peel of life!

written June 18,1986

WISHES

Oh, I wish
that there were
two of me,
one here with you,
one roaming free!

(from People Talk)

DREAM CATCHERS

Dream catchers
for those who dare to dream
with their eyes wide open
hope clinging to prayers.

IF WE COULD BE

If we could be
what wishes are,
we could be pipe dreams,
lacing halos for stars.
I wish I may,
I wish I might,
Going to keep on wishing
Until I get it right.

Honest yet beautiful at the same time! Did you mean to write bababa instead of banana?
