I would slide my arms
into my dressing gown
wrapped twice around me
deep black hug
of toweling complete with hood
that made me safe
that comforted the lost soul
living in my skin
but still I longed
for blood warmed flesh
to pulse and thud
with breath and heart
to fill me,
fill my senses
drown the stone
secreted in my heart
and melt the creeping ice
along the tendrils
of those gentle strings
that should be singing
hallelujah! how I love you
but I had fabric to embrace me
a warm unfeeling nest
to let me rest there quietly
until light came.
