Words Syringes My Needles - Poem by Terence George Craddock (afterglows echoes of starlight)

poetry was ever my opium
words syringes my needles

    Opium Compulsive Prolific Writers

    opium is a metaphor
    for compulsive writing
    prolific writers
    be they poets
    novelists dramatists
    screenwriters
    are writer addicts
    compulsively addicted

    to creative process
    fishing hunting
    caught words writing
    is writ drug fix candy
    stale writer's block
    stump withdrawals

    low no buzz

    writing euphoric high
    words lines mind images
are the trip the journey towards
    completed themes concepts

    poems stories plays
    word addicts write
    interpretation analysis
we may leave to readers critics

    specific themes
    styles emotive images
    define concepts

    may hook readers fans
    who willingly come forth
    to seek share written ride

Interesting concept. I've never tried opium, but I do love poetry.
    Well written.
