Words Wait Within The Universe Poem by Terence George Craddock

Words Wait Within The Universe

Rating: 5.0

The poet in me knows a very simple truth
to know what I am going to write
I must begin writing

the words are not within me;

the words
are within the universe
and I am their voice

I can sometimes
write an entire poem
start to finish word perfect

without knowing what I am writing;

most
of my poems
are not chosen topics

a moment
a point in time
that could be fixed

measured arrives
it could be any time day or night
anytime free time relatively relaxed;

thus normally daily I will write
rarely with a plan as to what how I will write
I will write because I need to write;

as rain needs to fall
as rivers need to flow
as flowers need to grow

I write as I breathe
thus not to write
is not to breathe
