Words Well Worth 1: Follow Little, But Well Poem by Aniruddha Pathak

Words Well Worth 1: Follow Little, But Well

Rating: 5.0

If heed can ye not hundred percent
The path of virtuous excellent,
Hail just how so far can,
Relent not once began,
Never those on the right path repent.

The transliteration of the subhāśhita is given below:

anugantum satām vartma kŗtsnam yadi na shakyate |
svalpam api anugantavyam mārgah sthah na avasīdati ||

It is alright if the path of the nobles can't be followed to the full. It is well its worth even a part of it is followed. One on the right path always reaches sooner or later, and never repents.

anugantum:to follow; satām vartma:the path of nobles; of the virtuous;
kŗtsnam:to the full; entirely; yadi:if; na shakyate: is not possible;
svalpam api:even a small (part of it): anugantavyam:should be followed, implemented;
mārga-sthah:one, on the (right)path/way; na avasīdati: never repents; not disappointed.

Thank you dear poet reader, KM, I strongly feel India possesses a rich heritage of Sanskrit literature imbued with deep thinking right from ancient times, what with our Vedas, Upanishads, epics like Ramayana and Mahabharata, to mention just a few. Today our young generation has no exposure to this, why, many can't even read and write in their mother tongue. I wish to present this to general readers of PH as thees are poetic translations. You may, and any other reader give opinion on this.
