Men of two moulds inhabit this world—
Painful both like a piercing sword:
A man with family,
Earning still none any,
A monk, greed for money never lulled.

gŗhasthah cha nir-ārambhauyatih cha sa-parigrahah ||

dvau: of types two; imau: these; puruśhau: men; loke: in (this)world; shirah: head; shūla-karau: causing pain of a pointed pierce; ubhau: both the types; gŗhasthah: (though)a house-holder, family man; cha nir-ārambhau: and still doing no work, un-started; yatih: an ascetic, yogi; cha sa-parigrahah: and (yet)accumulating things/wealth.
