Would Be Poets Poem by Rob Lamberton

Would Be Poets

To be or not to be in poetry
Where two roads diverge
Will you write me down in history
When in eternal lines we merge

Whose words are these my pen
If suddenly you forget me
O Captain! My Captain!
A poem lovely as a tree

Could I ring in the bells of time
Hold fast to dreams
And not make dreams your aim
The time will come if when

For no man is an island
Love, in Fire and blood
Grains of golden sand within my hand
And an old women in purple

For could we be a poet bright
Where the cows go bong
And the trees go ping
Rage against the dying of the light
