Yesterday Poem by Fred Babbin

Yesterday

Rating: 5.0

Yesterday was a heavy day.
No rest from the night
Or the day before.
Like house paint
That when you pour
It pours so slowly
It takes forever
To do your chore
And you slog, and you slog,
And you wait for tomorrow
To evaporate
Those heavy memories
And the weariness
that weighs you down.
Those things you really should ignore.

And what matching heaviness in those 'or' sounds and 'w' consonants. Yes- evaporation is to be wished for often!

those things you should ignore - there's no end to it - like getting irritated over little things; wishing your teeth were whiter; arthritis in your index finger; so many things we should ignore, from yesterday, and wish they would vanish, evaporate. that's what makes life so so exciting, for it all makes us realise we are mere mortals. Thanks, Fred, I'm strong again. Mark
