You Are My One Poem by Deluke Muwanigwa

You Are My One

Rating: 5.0

I look in my soul
It's empty
No empathy
No sympathy
No telepathy
Non neuropathy

I look in mind
It's blank
It's frank
I drank
It's black
It's bland

I look in my heart
It's broken
No word spoken
No token
Like a sprocket
Of an obselete rocket

I look at my being
It's dim
A thing
Unseen
I have been
In sin.

I look at my life
It's hard
Full of injury
Penury
Centuries
Of perjury

I look at my future
Non-existent
In suture
The stricture
The picture
In fracture

I look at my roots
Of slavery
Colonialism
Colloquialisms
Of socialism
With capitalism

I look at you
I see love
And hope
A home
Of my own.
You are my one
