You'Re Not A Standard; I Just Have You On A Pedastol
Rating: ★3.5
Paige has a new boyfriend:
from Iowa, a country boy.
Come to find/love a city girl
with a situation, not hard to comprehend.
Brief but undeniably insatiable-
love curtailed, is love indeed.
It has to survive under strained
conditions, when it's halted &
suffocating. His blue collar pride
and her loose cotton cool;
Always the twain will meet:
a breathy yes- -
a wooden smile;
small but distant,
now just non-existent;
excited/nervous/scared.
hurt, frustrated, vengeful.
He broke her down:
Effortlessly, charismatically.
Her grounded background
losing out to instability.
You have to command the scene.
Otherwise, you're nobody.
Was basically his tag-line.
Big shot, intimidator.
He had dignity, integrity, self-control
but zero patience. Null compassion.
That's where she came in. A man like a child
she dressed, eased his wounds, troubles.
& then she finally realized-
she didn't want to be treated
in the way that he treated her.
Which, is what he was afraid of.
