Your Beat Poem by Linda I. Weischedel

Your Beat

There is something I will never understand,
when I had the proper knowledge at hand,
answers to all those questions were in demand,
now when you see me you act as if we never met,
telling the truth was something I shall never, ever regret, as for you,
it's so amazing how you always seem to accidentally forget.

You act as if there were no yesterday,
you still do not realize how fortunate your lifestyle really was because I did not allow them to make you pay,
it was my words that gave the very pardon, and it authorized you more time to stay,
trust me, beating someone to the ground or to a pulp is just not my way, you're still claiming that nothing ever
transpired on twisted day.

You're still the bold and brazen coward you have always been,
now for the decent way that your Momma raised you, and for the disrespectful way you turned out to be, well it's a total sin.
To tell your life story I would even know where to begin.

When you finally do open that door up and confess,
it will be to late your life will be an absolute failure,
a complete mess,
then you will have gained nothing more, only less.
