Not Even Death

Why, through boredom,
is sorrow born?
Then through sorrow,
why depression?

It consumes
and it steals.
Leaving nothing for you
but an empty shell.

Is it worth
going forward?
I really
must ask.

Guilt overcomes me,
I swore to you my life.
I swore that you and I
would never part.

Now, as I look
upon my wrist
and gaze at the burns
and cuts I have wrought,

I wonder if I
will be the one to part.
For I am the sinner
and you are the saint.

And I don’t try
to hid it.
