Alice Slater Poems

Gone, He's Gone

Days before he left, I imagined how it might be
When he left, how we would part,
I wanted to say I would miss him
After all two months together is a while,

The Sunflower

The sunflower
So unphased by the world’s conflict,
It boldly sets about its mission,
To grow tall and strong and quick,

The Garden In The Early Summer Morning

The garden
While all sleep, the sun shines on
Early in the morning.
I do my daily rounds,

Oh, England

Poor, poor, turned-in-on-itself, England
Wither thou go, but down, to the depths
Of depravity.
