You might see an unkempt knight,
Riding on a donkey in the dark of night,
On a ragged saddle in creaking armour,
With frowning brows and expression sour,
Thus you might wonder aloud at his plight.
Ah! That’s me!
The most dishevelled knight you will see!
With splintered lance and rusty sword,
Living off the land without an overlord.
O, hear my plea!
I was once a knight errant,
Who could do nothing but rant
About my prowess with the lance
My lord gave me my sole want.
