    Gentle feel of Spring breeze
    Mango blossom's heady smell
    Someone calls behind

This haiku was one of the first things I read by Bharati Nayak, and since then I've formed the impression she is a natural poet—that is, she couldn't not be a poet if she tried. And importantly for me, in her writing there resides a lovely heart which, in this world, is a thing to treasure.

I am beyond words for the great authors' reviews on my poet page. When we appreciate a poet for his/her creation, it is really a celebration of poetry itself. What wonderful job poetry does for us! ! Poetry connects heart to heart, soul to soul, mind to mind and bridges any gap between people, society and nations.

At times we are aware of a deep music rippling and resonating thru the whole creation.
When the small stream of emotional life links up with the music of overall Being, it becomes a stream of contemplation. The music of Bharati's poetry follows that stream. But her attention revisits the rivulets that feed into it. She acknowledges them and gathers them into the river that moves toward great themes of hope, compassion, gratitude, love and the search for meaning.

In my mind's eye I see a picture of Bharati as a little girl playing beside a stream. She has a few vessels next to her...she pours water from one vessel into another, and then back into the stream. I think the water she pours is not ordinary, because what fascinates her is inherent music in the stream of thought. This is a symphony that springs to life spontaneously, and we poets are hard put to divert it into the music of our words.

I Speak Not

I speak not
As I feel
Speaking is not essential
Silence speaks for itself
Even eyes speak
Speak thousand words my quivering lips
Unsaid words travel million miles
Sun speaks
Moon speaks
Speaks the thunderstorm
When hearts meet
Mouth says no words
Only the closeness knows
How louder is the heart
When it beats
Beating the loudness of sea-roars.

Horizon

Horizon
Towards you as I walk on
To get nearer
you go farther

Horizon
You are an illusion
You are infinitely stretching points
Where sky meets earth
And the duet they dance

Horizon
You are the point Where blue mist of sky
And lovely green of earth
Mingle and merry
So close and yet so distant.
