Though winged
I am caged
I flutter my wings
As if to fly
They get hurt by the iron railings
The milked rice
And the good nuts
That I am served
Do not satisfy
As I dream
Of the open sky
Where I do belong.
You ask me
Oh Parrot! How are you?
You see my bright green feathers
And my beautiful red beak
I answer in my clatter
Which you can not understand
and think
I belong to rich and so live in lavish
On some careless day
My owner may
Keep the cage open
I may get a chance to fly
But my wings
that have forgotten
the art of flying
may fall a prey
to some vultures
My good owner and his neighbors
Will curse me,
O.K, O.K
Let that ungrateful bird
Meet a graceless end.
Wow...Just wonderful. I wrote a poem on similar theme not on parrot but a bird, long back. But I didnt post it as it was not rhyming well. I like the concept and you have presented well. Loved it.
Many thanks for your lovely comment on my poem.It is long time since I am having your wonderful words on my poem. Please post your poem on Poem Hunter and give us chance to read it.
Beautiful mam, i think. this parrot is me, and society is cage. And those awful memories.... when all my poem were asking equality.
A very just poem about parrot, nicely presented Madam Bharati. If you like please visit my poem A bird when caged.
A philosophical poem with contradictions of thought, dreams and events. The dream of freedom ends in disaster for the continuously prisoned souls. Excellent.

Though winged I am caged I flutter my wings As if to fly.. the beginning.. so much we do for our fun and clip the wings in cages.. when would we realize the very freedom we want is also for all Creatures? What makes and gives us sense to know from such simple things? Why cant we see for freedom and enjoy that in Nature? Where do we clip our minds in all this and cant get free from? Thanks for sharing this Parrot Bharathiji.. Liked the Idea and feel! 10+++
Thak you Siddartha Montik for your nice comment.Really, Why cant we see for freedom and enjoy that in Nature? '' Where do we clip our minds in all this and cant get free from?
