From My Window

From my window I see a city that everyone loves and treasures
From my window I see faces of dreams deferred, downtrodden and weathered
They say if I could make it here, I could make it anywhere
I don't want to try any longer
My window's view tells stories of pain
My window cries even when there is no rain

The world at ease, life is rising in the east
The pulse is beginning to raise
Pull the curtains aside as long as we open our eyes
Our windows will live to tell the sights of another day
