What Then?

What then my love will there be?
When dusk and day return no more
And waves no longer soak the shore
When sun explodes into tiny pieces
And skin lines tiny folding creases
And spines bow-like curve causes
Careful steps with many pauses

What then my love will there be?

My love my love can you not see?
When we've coughed and choked our final word
When there's no more trees for nesting bird
When sin and stress and strain are not
And all that thinkers ever thought
Is hurled and dashed against the stone
