Monkeys

Will you see, my brother,
The lights dimming
For every tortured cry
For every guilty sinner fried?

Will you hear, my sister,
The armies of the night
strike out to make you safe,
the wailing of the starved
to keep you fed,
the moaning of the drugged
that make you feel so righteous?

Will you speak, my brothers,
As the lies turn to quicksand
Under your feet,
As fear spins a web
around your very wings,
as those you honour
speak falsely in your name?

Take your hands away
And cover up no more
For your fourth brother...
