Lies My Father Told Me

My father once told me the world was flat
And that if I was successful enough I could live at the top
I was fascinated with the Idea
Of being able to look down on everyone else.
He told me for me to have this
I have to work hard, fight and struggle
But the best thing he told me is that through it all
He would always have my back.

15 years later I know the truth
The world is round
Because what goes around comes right back round.
Hard work does pay off
But it is God who decides our future
Today I look at myself proud of who I am
