Are We There Yet?
Excitement followed those long days of April showers.
Children’s scribbles upon a calendar magically appeared,
adorned by squiggly inked red arrows, exclamation marks…
As if not duly noted we might forget.
“Start making your lists” mom would say.
“You know it’s been known to snow the latter part of May”
So she began the story of our box camper tailored by dad.
Mornings of a frost covered canvas, giggles laced in
mounds of blankets that hid her babies inside.
So we would listen as if the story had never been told.
