Using that last piece of chalk,
The teacher writes and lectures.
Receiving little interest,
From the tired and sleepy children.
The depression has hit,
And the economy has crashed.
Very few remained wealthy,
And this teacher wasn’t one of them.
But unlike most others,
She didn’t care about the money,
Sure she needed it,
But the children needed her more.
They may return false smiles,
Or whine and groan,
In their poorly crafted chairs,
But she new that in their future,
Lied a life, lacking all this despair.
