The Greatest Mystery

Life’s a journey, a gift,
A battle, a bitch,
A circle, a jest,
A rainbow, and the rest:
Doubt, desert and solitude.
It is an incurable disease, a horizontal fall, a bowl of cherries,
One damned thing after another.
We seek to define this life,
This one thing we all share.
By defining it we understand ourselves,
We are thieves of identity and meaning.
He is a nomad who sees life as a desert.
She is a traveller who sees life as a journey.
They are knights who think life is a battle.
You are a joker who believes life is a jest.
