When cold February snow did thaw
I left a snowdropp by your door
And late in March when sky was blue
A bought a daffodil to you
As April shower’s refreshed the land
I put a cowslip in your hand
And at the Maypole in sweet May
A daisy chain did slip your way
Red rose I brought in breathless June
On bended knee ‘neath shining moon
One summer’s day in hot July
My gift a painted butterfly
To you one sunny August morn
A dolly from the first cut corn
And when September’s song did sing
A shiny apple I did bring
