A Dark Night

The trees in the dark forest dance
in the howling wind,
as they moan and cry
for an innocent creature
that must die.

A brown mouse scurries home
not knowing it's being watched
by hungry eyes
that fly above
with sharpened knives.

The creature stops,
at the sound of a deadly cry
and a winged beast's bladed beak
plunges into its soft flesh.

Through the dark night an owl flies swiftly
while it carries the helpless mouse.
Its wings are like that of an angel
But its talons are like those of a demon.
