That Fearful Symmetry

Why is that Tyger burning bright
In the forest of the night?
By Tyger did Blake mean the light
That gives us life and second sight?

Is the forest a gnarly woods
Or a tangle of theory that hides and hoods
Those curled up strings and branes
Vibrating in sub-atomic planes?

Is that the night before the dawn
Or the time of ignorance which does spawn
Our anxious clawing in abstruse math
For some divine and righteous path?

And is each Immortal Hand or Eye
A hand that that lifts us as we try
With Euler, Galois and Poincare
To find that ...
