Coming back from the store
my father stepped out of the car first, and I followed.
He cleared his throat and spit on the ground, unknowingly.
I tried to do the same, a thin line ran down my shirt
and I made a mimicking, spitting sound.
He reprimanded me immediately,
saying that spitting was inappropriate.
It was rude and should never be done in public.
Feeling guilt, I looked at the ground.
Seeing my shoestrings dangle about the tar
I looked at the spot where he had spit
