My parents divorced when I was about three. My mom remarried to a farmer, and my dad moved back in with his parents. I had a sister, and we would visit my dad on weekends. Primarily, we lived with my stepfather’s parents, my mother’s mother, and my aunt Patty & uncle Robin. I worked on farms, and attended an average size school. A pillar of darkness
A tower of light
The city of ruins
The harrowing night

To slay the beast
The child must bleed
To enjoy the feast
The hunger must feed

I live in darkness
Where my heart grows cold
I live in shadows
Where the truth is told

Day or Night
It’s all the same
Cry or Laugh
It’s just a game

The sticky blood
That lay on dusty floors
The guilty tears
Held back by paper doors
