Feeling awkward watching the rain The music fades from the space. Dancing behind me is a man of silence bouncing his cane My feelings are not the case. Feeling awkward I sway to a song I know to well Ringing outside in the rain are the lovely but lonely church bells. Looping with the song it creates this feeling that I belong, Here, in this time, in this space. I call this my second home Drip dropp or tick tock and knock knock. Creating every two minutes a new sound, a new song I know this is truly where my mind, body and soul belong. The floor beneath my feet is cold Watching children laugh and play for years and years makes me seem so old. Time like the leaves on the trees just fades away This awkward space of tan and gray melts, twists, knots, into itself around. They twist around the colored books scattered like photographs on the floor Each one to its own story, each one lends me a fond memory. Love, life without fear, getting drunk on my tears, human emotions to over flow running out of my face the ticking never pausing space. These memories fit so well, like a perfect glove The rain slows, freezing in time, my story has been stopped. A loud slam, everything in the space grows dark; the reader will sleep now and continue my story when morning comes Goodnight, goodnight for now I’ll listen to the music of this eternal night and the trickling of rain for that makes me awkward, as the ticking clock.
