The Takey Men

The Takey Men creep out by night
Before the moon can rise
They slit your seams, suck out your dreams
With straws pushed through your eyes

While pain bleeds into crooked jars
Sealed up with graveyard wax
The severed head, still warm, but dead
They crack with knife and axe

Deep down beneath polluted earth
In caves where leeches breed
Cold hands and feet are ground as meat
The Takey Men must feed

The tender midriff, peeled and split
Ferments in blood and bile
And for the young, each sour lung
Makes Daddy’s trip worthwhile
