Fire burning in my soul
engulfs my life, destroys me whole.
Water comes to wash it away,
giving me another day.
In the earth I hide, day and night,
whimpering in unrendering fright.
Wind comes howling with terrifying force
I scream for relief until my voice goes hoarse.
The elements, they make us all,
they are our rise, they are our fall.
They build us up and tear us down,
they steal away with the royal crown.
Only God can help us now,
and only to God will I bow.
