A Naughty Night To Swim In

A naughty night to swim in.
No pane
Or steel frame
Nor wet newspaper jammed in the warps and buckles

Can keep the howling out.
Palms pressed lightly to ears at first and then hammered on harder with gales
Sheets and blankets at first
and now quilts - offer cotton protection - against the noise
Poor little curled little marmoset under slim fingers
Rage - blow
What an elemental folly
is a blasted marriage.
Poor Tom.
