031910c Orchid Above A Quicksand Poem by Manonton Dalan

031910c Orchid Above A Quicksand

mushy ground beneath a grass
i gingerly step looking for solid
instead squirts land on my shirt
matted so i didn't sink so deep
wet my feet almost lost balance
i step back not taking any chance

i sit watching the flower across
an orchid hanging by a branch
purplish white with green leaves
half of it, is well hidden by a nest
a little snake swimming beneath
cross into shrubberies and vanish

there's bigger mom somewhere
anticipating every moves i do
just a thought but it could be true
i may not be last to see the petals
i'll leave it alone, prancing to stars
so beautiful it pleases my eyes
